Kashaf Global’s CEO, Michael Markland, hosted a fantastic event to raise awareness and funds for The Orange River Karoo Conservation Area (Orkca) which seeks to buy land to protect critical biodiversity along the Orange River in the North Western region of South Africa.
This arid region is home to many species of fauna and flora that are either endemic or endangered. The premise of buying land here is to create a huge unbroken tract of land to allow free movement of wildlife to mitigate against increasing drought and climate change.
At the event hosted at the exclusive Conduit Club in Central London, it was my honour to give a talk highlighting how in my life’s journey of building my fine art portfolio I have seen so much change to our planet’s biodiversity, and how I so believe in habitat preservation efforts.
It was inspiring hearing of the other speakers efforts and successes in their various organizations efforts to protect our planet.
Speaking with me was Michael Markland, CEO Kashaf Global, Andreia Pawel co-founder of Orkca, Ben Goldsmith, Founder of The Conservation Collective, Kristian Teleki, CEO Fauna and Flora.
On display at the event was an exhibition sized Fig and Elephant, one of my best selling limited edition Art works that combines mood, art and emotion into one.
The Fig and Elephant depicts two of Africa’s icons, a bull elephant who is given both shade and sustenance by a magnificent Ficus tree.
